Our Story
GIG was born out of a simple but powerful observation: talented university students across the UK are eager for real-world work experience, yet businesses often overlook them for short-term, high-impact projects.
While working in strategy consulting and operations, I (Daria Storozhkova, Founder & CEO) saw first-hand how companies struggled to find flexible, skilled support without committing to lengthy hiring processes. At the same time, I met countless students who were ambitious, capable, and ready to contribute — but lacked opportunities that fit around their academic schedules.
The disconnect was clear — and so was the solution.
The Spark
The idea for GIG crystallized during my work with diverse organizations, from banks to startups. I repeatedly noticed:
• Businesses were drowning in tasks too small for a full hire, but too important to delay.
• Students were ready to work, but existing recruitment models ignored short-term and project-based roles.
With AI transforming how we match skills to needs, the opportunity was to build a platform that could:
• Connect companies and students in minutes, not weeks.
• Ensure fair pay through transparent, skills-based pricing.
• Give students tangible, résumé-worthy experience while still at university.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between education and employment — making it as easy for a business to get help with a project as it is to order a taxi, and giving students the experience and income they need to launch their careers with confidence.
GIG is currently in its pre-launch phase, building a community of forward-thinking businesses and ambitious students ahead of our UK pilot.
